I have now used the device a half dozen times on soft boiled eggs. I have yet to get a clean break in the egg shell. Usually it requires multiple strikes, leaving small broken shell along the edge of the cut, which only provides a very small opening at the top of the egg. Eating the egg through the small opening is best done with a narrow egg spoon, as a regular teaspoon is too large.I find using a simple butter knife more effective, faster and giving a cleaner cut.Work as described.Worked after getting used to the device.egg did not break as in videoI saw an ad on LinkedIn, so I searched online & found it on Amazon. I ordered a pair. When they came in, I had to put them to the test. After a few practice try's, I finally got the hang of it. My wife likes the way it works because she can use the shells to plant her flower seeds in. When the flower starts to grow, she can transfer the shell & flower into her pots.This is not the fault of the maufacturer; the design is not the right one for opening soft-boiled eggs. Better to use the round scissors/cutters to open. This device shatters rather than cutsMost of the reviews said it didn't work. I tried it on two soft boiled eggs and it worked fine. I think the reviewers didn't realize that you have to pull the hammer back far enough to give the top of the egg a good whack, and you have to do it several times. Then the round piece of shell comes right off!It’s fun but there’s a learning curve.If you pull the snapper back too far you will smash the egg. Pulling back not enough and it doesn’t cut all around. So you will need to practice to get the sweet spot. Great price for two Toppers.
